Course programme

Course Content:
The course will start off at the college where you will look at examples of drawing from location. We will discuss how to choose a subject matter and consider proportions, tonal rhythm, scale and tonality of the shapes in front of us.

We will then go to a local location to start making drawings.

On the second day you will work from the location drawing to make an interpretation within the studio environment. You will be shown ways to transpose your drawings to a larger scale to form the basis of your painting.

The course will cover:

Line
Tone relationships
Colour (painted and dry colour)
Focus Point (depth of field)
Scaling up
Palette management and mixing
Painting approaches (location and studio)
