Skills Development Skills Development

This division has been set up to help you achieve your potential in your chosen courses. We can help you to:-
Improve your study skills.
Improve your course/exam grades.
Improve your confidence in academic work.
Build on your successes.

DROP IN WORKSHOPS/HOMEWORK CLUB
You know that often when working through assignments and essays we can think of many ideas, but the difficult part is getting these down onto paper. These small group workshops, where you can work through individually planned courses, are designed specifically to help you improve your academic writing skills. Maybe your English tests and assignments are not generating the grades you want - these workshops are for you.

Or maybe numeracy assignments are an issue. If you have problems with your level 1 or 2 Maths course, a small group maths workshop can help you identify your needs and plug the gaps in your numeracy knowledge.

Workshops are held in the Learning Resource Centre Monday -Thursday at 4.00pm for one hour.

INDIVIDUAL SPECIALIST SUPPORT
For students who have had support at school or those who have specific learning needs, there is trained staff available to provide support, and to provide professional assessment for exam support. Workshops will be available as a drop in service in the Learning Resource Centre between 12pm and 2pm every day.

DIAGNOSTIC TESTING
When you join the College you will be asked to complete a computer-based skills test and a free writing assessment. This will then be used to put together a package designed to help you get the most from your course. You will be able to discuss the results of the test with your tutor, attend or have a confidential interview with one of our specialist staff.
