Skills for life Levels1 and 2 ) - TGSL11AL

Is the course for me?
This course provides practical sessions to people working in a variety of sectors, including logistics, catering & hospitality and health & social care, to work on and improve your skills in speaking and listening, reading and writing English and/or Maths skills in line with the business of your company. The course is activity based and will be held in your work place. The course content will be based around things you do at work already and will help to improve your understanding of what is happening where you work. The course will help you follow company procedures as well as let you gain a Level 1/2 qualification in Literacy and/or Numeracy.

What will I learn?
You will work in a small group or on a one to one basis on your speaking and listening, reading and writing for the English course and on your number skills for the Maths course, according to your level at the start of the course. Your work will focus around the company where you work but will also help you gain skills that you can take into all other areas of your life. You will take an examination at the end of the course; passing this will get you a nationally recognised qualification in English and/or Maths. All assessment and tuition will take place on company premises unless otherwise stated

How will I be assessed?
You will be given an English assessment by an English/Maths tutor at the beginning of the course so that your learning level at the start of the course is known. Tutors will regularly review your progress throughout the course so you and the tutor will know how you are getting on.

What can I do after the course?
Nationally recognised qualifications are essential for people looking for promotion at work or wanting a change of career. People qualified up to Level 2 in English and Maths gain confidence in their abilities and are more likely to be be employed in full time work than people without Level 2 qualifications.
