WHY TAKE AN ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN SOCIETY, HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT?
The course has been designed to develop future employees for the children and young people's workforce, health, community justice and the adult social care sector. It combines theoretical study with real work situations. Achieving a Diploma in Society, Health and Development will help you to progress to a range of occupational and professional higher education programmes and employment opportunities.
WHAT ARE THE KEY AREAS OF STUDY?
This Diploma covers topical themes such as human growth, personal and professional development, health and safety, supporting children and young people's development within and across the diverse sectors. The external assessed modules that you will study include; Health, Wellbeing and Lifestyles. The internally assessed modules you will study include; Exploring the Sectors, Working Together, Exploring Principles and Values, Are We Communicating, Safeguarding and Protecting the community?, Meeting Needs and Growth and Development. You will also be able to take additional qualifications alongside this programme such as AS/A Levels or a GCSE.
WHAT SKILLS WILL I NEED AND DEVELOP?
The Diploma is both challenging and stimulating, using a wide range of learning approaches including problem solving, work related assignments, work placements and visits and real life projects. You will develop the very necessary skills for employment or further education. Undertaking an extended project, working in groups and independently and using effective communication are embedded within the course together with personal, learning and thinking skills.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
By a mixture of examinations and internally assessed coursework modules.

You will have the opportunity to take part in enrichment activities including; Sign Languages, Play Therapy, Holistic Therapies and First Aid. We engage actively in many external visits which form the key element to your course. You will also be invited to take part in international work experiences which include working in Bulgarian Orphanages and residential experiences for health in Cyprus.
