Content / Overview:
Sociology gives you a different outlook on your everyday world. It's a great opportunity to study controversial subjects not usually taught at school. AS topics focus on changing families and households, education and sociological research. A2 topics explore religion, sociological theories, crime and deviance. You learn through discussion, guided reading, written assignments, group tasks, videos, classroom presentations and online research. Sociology has a record of excellent results at both AS and A level. Many of our students move on to higher education; often selecting courses that combine Sociology with related subjects like medicine, nursing, journalism, teaching, marketing, criminology, social work or media studies.

Delivery Method:
Discussion, guided reading, written assignments, group tasks, videos, classroom presentations and online research.

Assessment:
2 modular exams per year.

Progression:
Degrees or careers in medicine, nursing, journalism, marketing, criminology, social work, police, teaching, youth work or media studies.
