Starting your own floristry business

Course Content:
You will be introduced to a range of flowers and foliage and practice conditioning and checking the quality of materials.
Using the latest techniques in floristry you will create designs for Weddings, Funerals, Gifts and Events. This will include gift-wrapping and information on storing designs. You will be encouraged to evaluate your designs through group discussion.
We will consider working to a customer brief which you will apply to your work considering time and budget.
You will learn how to cost designs and also consider buying lists and how to order wholesale flowers and sundries. There will be information on conditioning and storing of flowers and foliage. We will also discuss flower trends and influences, Corporate image, marketing and promotion.
We will consider meeting clients and giving estimates based on the customer’s brief.

Towards the end of the course you will be encouraged to plan, prepare and manage the making of a floristry design to a brief and budget.
Health and Safety is an important factor in floristry and you will be instructed in how to operate tools and equipment carefully, safely and effectively.
