The programme will begin your development as a professional practictioner. You will study the following units in Year 1:
•    teaching, learning and assessment
•    theories, principles and models
•    developing, teaching, learning and assessment
•    developing, assessing and organising resources in a specialist area

In Year 2 you will study:
•    Professional Practice and Development
•    Action Research
•    Specialist Delivery Techniques and Activities
•    Understanding and Managing Behaviours in a Learning Environment

There will also be a minimum of eight observations during the course, four per year of your teaching.

One four-hour session per week for two academic years at Highbury Campus. You can choose to attend College on Tuesday or Thursday evenings.

Course programme

The Diploma in Education and Training is suitable for your development as teacher, trainer or tutor working in further education, adult and community learning or work-based training within public, private, voluntary or community organisations. It prepares you to teach in a wide range of contexts and requires observation and assessment of practice. Teaching practice is a requirement of the qualification.
On successful completion of the two-year programme you will be awarded a Level 5 Diploma in Education and training (QCF) validated by TQUK.
You will learn through a range of teaching and learning strategies, including group & paired activities and experiential learning as well as through lectures, seminars and presentations. There will also be independent study, research and project work.
