Course programme
Course review:
This unique course is aimed at anyone who has an interest in theatre costume, wants to make professional tutu for classical ballet dancers and would like to acquire the skills involved.
Over the two days students will work towards constructing a 10-layer, 16" wide tutu skirt to a standard adult ballet dancer's size. Tutor Amanda Hall is a dancewear specialist and creates tutus for many dance companies including the Royal Ballet. She will guide you through all necessary techniques including measuring, fitting, cutting, pleating and assembling a traditional ballet tutu to a professional standard.
Included in the price are specialist dance materials including white tutu net, cotton bobbinet and steel boning.
Although Prescott & Mackay endeavour for each student to complete their tutu, this may not always be possible. Students will receive enough tuition and notes during the class to be able to complete their tutu at home.
Things you need to bring with you:
- sharp scissors
- notebook
- pencil
- duvet or sheet to transport you tutu home
- glass-head pins
- hand sewing needles
