Course programme

Why choose this course?

  • as our culture becomes more diverse our service delivery needs to reflect the needs of all of the users of our services
  • increased participation by the users of our services may challenge the ways we have worked in the past, leaving confusion in the minds of some practitioners
  • many of our beliefs and work practices have been inherited and not questioned, thus creating a situation where we are out of step with current expectations
  • in the past there have been some very confrontational training around anti-discriminatory practice this course, whilst not compromising in integrity, is a gentle way of valuing all of our differences whilst working with fear of change
  • positive results ~ staff are equipped to deal with new ways of working and are able to challenge discriminatory practice so that they can work in partnership with users of the service and their carers

Length of course: 1 or 2 days 9.30 – 4.30

Nature of training:

  • Exercises will range from lecture style input (small) to discussion and small group work and to individual sharing within pairs.
  • Hand outs will be provided to reinforce all theoretical input.

All of our experiences have value and this will be a participatory workshop with great opportunity for contribution from everyone.

There is likely to be some music, and even a bit of dancing to spice up this training plus an interesting buffet lunch!
