What is the course about?
An introduction to watercolour exploring basic skills & techniques. This is an ideal course for beginners.

What are the course outcomes?
An introduction to watercolour painting intially constructing a colour wheel from 3 primary colours via controlled colour mixing as a means of understanding colour theory and relationships. Exploring various tecniques inc: masking, negative, painting, wet-in-wet, lifting out, sponging, atmospheric perspective and landscape composition.

Are there any additional requirements?
Materials:
Students need to bring the items listed below that they already have, and only purchase specialist materials once the course has started, as directed by the tutor. Watercolours including red, yellow, blue, watercolour paper approx A3 300gsm (140lb) putty rubber, 2B pencil, pencil sharpener, palette, 2 water containers, masking fluid, brushes, paper towel, tissue, cotton buds, sponge, large cotton rag, sharp craft knife and long match sticks.

How will you be assessed?
Continuous feedback on a one-to-one basis.
