If you haven't previously held a particular Code, experienced trainers will assess your current skills and if necessary, produce a custom made training programme. This will be designed to develop your skill range to the required standard and take into account all knowledge required for Health and Safety legislation.

You can read and understand short pieces of writing such as letters, messages, simple stories, timetables and adverts. You can write short pieces of writing - for example an email to a friend, a simple letter, a story or a message.
You can work with numbers, symbols, and simple diagrams. You can add and subtract simple numbers and use simple fractions. You can use money, tell the time, measure things and know about squares, triangles and rectangles.
What qualification will I receive?
BS2640 Oxy-acetylene BS2971 Metallic-arc Required as a minimum requirement for working within the construction industry covering pipe welding skill range tests: within BS1295 BS/EN 15614-1 Oxy-acetylene This code is Class 1: pipe code is used and required when welding pipe work carrying: steam, high pressure hot water, connecting boilers etc.. BS/4872 Pt 1 Oxy-acetylene metallic-arc These codes are with, and used for welding & fabrication of: anchor points, pipe guides, pipe tracks minimum plate welding requirement. BS/4872 Pt 2 Inert gas plate & pipe Code and skill range required for welding of stainless steel fabrication to and within the catering & brewing industries. Where can it lead?
Welding to British, European, American or leading Industrial Standards (NJIC, JIB) that are approved and covered by insurance guarantees to ensure that welding is of a recognised and constantly monitored standard. These codes are increasingly being required for contractual purposes especially for quality assurance.
What will I study?
You will study practical welding skills for your chosen Welder Code.
How will I be taught?
If training is necessary, it takes place in purpose built workshops at the College of North West London Willesden Centre. Training is given in the methods which may be adopted when using the work equipment. You will also learn about the risks which such use may entail and which precautions need to be taken. Training can be arranged at short notice and scheduled at times to meet your requirements.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by our consultants. Downing Consultants Ltd have been established since 1989 both nationally and internationally covering weld procedures and non destructive testing with a client base that includes, Shell, ESSO, B.P and ICI to name just a few.
What will it cost?
Age under 19 on 31st August of the year you start your course? Study forFREE.
