Choose appropriate materials (copper and plastics). Use hand tools safely. Re-washer taps and Float valves. Identify various valves and fittings (capillary, compression and plastic). Repair.

Course content:
This course is for people who would like to have an insight into domestic DIY plumbing
At the end of this course you will be able to:
- Explain Health and Safety requirements for the workshop
- Choose appropriate materials (copper and plastics)
- Use hand tools safely
- Re-washer taps and Float valves
- Identify various valves and fittings (capillary, compression and plastic)
- Repair minor leaks
-• Solder copper tube
- Bending copper tube using hand bending machine and spring
- Identify Direct and Indirect Hot and Cold systems
- Identify basic heating controls
- Isolate a radiator, drain down and remove for decoration and refit
Course Structure:
Each week class begins with half hour open surgery (students plumbing problems) Demonstration, practical, whole class, group, discussion.
Course resources:
The workshop is equipped with hand tools. Goggles and masks provided. Smart board, DVD's, Handouts, Various fittings and tools.
Assessment:
Teacher feedback, Student and peer self-assessment, A finished piece of work. Work sheets (Q&A)

Fee 1: Standard fee;
Fee 2: Aged 60+ years fee
Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
You will need to bring proof of age and any benefits when you enrol.
You DO NOT have to pay a college registration fee for these courses, but you may have to pay for additional course materials.Materials costs:
