The course will look at the dynamics of domestic abuse from the perspective of both victim and perpetrator; The course will also look at the ethics of working with domestic abuse especially in the context of couples counselling.

Describe the dynamics behind an abusive relationship;Outline at least 2 techniques for working with anger management;Outline at least 2 techniques for working with co-dependency;Assess when it may be safe to work with couples who are living with domestic abuse, and where to refer if not appropriate.

Course programme
Domestic abuse; anger management, co-dependence, ethics and safety.
Learning will be facilitated by teaching input, discussion, reflection, small and large group work. Students will be expected to participate in class activities.
Students do not need to bring any materials to this class. The tutor will provide all necessary handouts and other materials.
