Vocational qualification
This is a qualification which will be delivered as part of the Adult Apprenticeship Scheme for Drug and Alcohol services. Entry to the NVQ qualification is restricted to having a work placement, however volunteers can be considered if they have current voluntary work experience and are fully endorsed by the employment agency. The progression award in drug and alcohol services can be taken.

Course Content
Candidates must complete 6 mandatory units
Mandatory unitsinclude :·Promote equality and value diversity·Contribute to the quality of team working·Develop and sustain effective working relationships with staff in other agencies·Maintain and develop your own knowledge, skills and competence·Help individuals address their offending behaviour·Contribute to the prevention and management of abusive and aggressive behaviour.
Students are also expected to choose 4 optional units.

This is undertaken via the workplace by direct observation.
Witness statements, professional discussion and assimilations where appropriate.

Other professions in the drug field, work probation servces or social servcies.
