The World of Yoga

Where does Yoga come from? What is the culture that shapes it? And how does Yoga shape its surrounding culture? These are not theoretical questions, because the answers are as relevant today for us as they have been for Indians over the centuries. Through this fascinating glimpse into Indian culture, we will be able to see the many ways in which yoga can enrich our life.
This workshop will be a journey across time and across the continent, revealing a wonderful mosaic of practices, beliefs, imagery, customs... We will explore, among other things, the major deities of the various yoga traditions and their deepest symbolism, the complex world of rituals and their meanings, the various Indian holidays, the world of temples and sacred sites, pilgrimage and liberation. The workshop will be an absorbing tour into Indian culture, one in which we will always be looking at what teachings, ideas or practices are relevant to enrich our own lives.
This workshop is geared to anyone with an interest in deepening their understanding of yoga and its culture, whatever their level of expertise in Hatha Yoga. No prior knowledge is required, just a willingness to explore. Come and join us.
