Course review:

This course is for qualified Fitness Instructors who wish to develop their range of teaching skills to include one of the most popular sessions on the studio timetable - group indoor cycling to music.

This qualification is available to individuals already instructing who wish to improve their knowledge and skills to enable them to deliver Studio Resistance Training sessions. It is also relevant for those already running such sessions without a formal qualification.

The aims of this course:

With more people now choosing to participate in group exercise, this qualification will give you the latest practical skills and knowledge, allowing you to teach, safely and effectively, a fun group fitness session using indoor cycling.

Course Content:

Candidates will learn:

  • Cycling approaches and technique
  • Use and legalities of music
  • Class structure
  • Guidelines to teaching
  • Setting up classes
  • Health and safety considerations

Vocational Relevance: REPS Level 2

Awarding body: Central YMCA Qualifications

Assessment:

  • Plan and prepare a Group Indoor Cycling exercise session
  • Instruct a Group Indoor Cycling exercise session
  • Practically assessed teaching observation.

You must already hold a CYQ Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing - Gym, or equivalent.
