Jayne Hellett
Trainer
Jayne Hellett is Principal Training Co-ordinator (Adolescent Mental Health) for Young People in Focus. She has 27 years of experience in working with young people and as a trainer/consultant. She has worked in Education, Social Services and the voluntary sector.
Course programme
This course explores the taboo topic of suicide and its impact on young people, their carers and practitioners.
It will consider:
- the problem of definition
- trends, including incidence and methods of suicide
- gender, “race” and ethnic differences
- theories of suicide
- recognising risk
- hopelessness, anger and depression
- young people's perspectives
- family and social factors
- helping suicidal young people
- staff support issues, agency policies and procedures
Cost
The fees include all costs including travel and standard materials (each course has a full pack of handouts). They do not cover trainers' overnight accommodation (if required) or the cost of training packs that Young People in Focus sells commercially such as ESCAPE, Wavelength, or Working with Young People.
Expenses: All trainers' expenses such as travel and subsistence costs (but not accommodation when required) are covered in Young People in Focus' fee.
