What you will Study
The Early Years Educator Level 3 is made up of 17 units, 64 credits. These cover areas such as Child development, Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, Planning and supporting Childrens play and learning. Assessment is through written work, assignments, discussions, and workplace observations. You will also need Maths and English at GCSE, Grade A-C, by the time you have completed your apprenticeship. We will help you via workshops to achieve these. Likewise you will need to attend training to achieve functional skills in IT if you don't have qualifications in this.
How you will Learn
This is a work based qualification so you will learn much of what you need to know from the setting where you work. You will also need to do some wider reading and research. You will have a personal tutor from college who will meet you to plan and complete your work and support you on an individual basis. This tutor will also visit you in your workplace to observe and assess you working. If you don't already have the required GCSEs you will need to do these before completion of your course. We deliver IT as a functional skill.
How you will be Assessed
You will be allocated an Assessor who will assess you in your workplace by observing you carrying out your daily tasks and duties. You will be required to answer written/oral questions and record what you do at work. This qualification is both assignment and coursework-assessed by your Assessor. You will need to pass exams in English, Maths and IT if you don't already have GCSEs in these.
