You will be given a language assessment and a short interview to assess your level.

What qualification will I receive?
Skills for Life Entry 3 Speaking and Listening exams are held in the first semester. Skills for Life reading and writing exams are taken at the end of the second semester.
Where can it lead?
It will improve job prospects and enable you to progress to the next language level and/or other appropriate courses.
What will I study?
You will develop and practise all the language skills - speaking, listening, reading and writing. You will also work on grammar and vocabulary.
You will study mathematics, ICT skills, employability skills, and a choice of tasters in subjects such as science, multimedia and hairdressing. You will also do two weeks of work experience.
How will I be taught?
Your teachers will use a variety of learning materials and classroom activities. In addition you will be able to improve your English using computers. All students are encouraged to use the Learning Resource Centre, which has a large selection of books, tapes, videos and computer language programmes chosen to help you with your studies. Free access to language websites on the Internet is also available.
How will I be assessed?
You will have regular homework and progress tests, and a mock examination a few weeks before the final examination.
What support is available while I am on the course?
You will have an individual learning plan and regular meetings with your tutor to discuss your progress on the course. The college offers a comprehensive range of student services including careers advice and guidance.
