About this course

Make your sketchbook an authentic site for abstract research and development, making use of basic drawing, painting and collage techniques to build a rich and varied resource.
Identify and respond to different sources for abstraction, i.e music, art, film, still-life or landscape.
Experiment with tone and colour in image-making, including digital and manual techniques.
Use and combine a range of direct and layered painting techniques in acrylics and oil.
Prepare appropriate surfaces for acrylic and oil painting and work at different scales.

Please bring a hardback A4 or A3 cartridge sketchbook. It can be spiral bound or stitched. Staff at Cass Art will be able to advise you. If you are unsure wait until after the first class and your tutor will advise. All the additional studio drawing and painting materials that you will need are provided.
Recommended media include: Pentel Waterbrushes and a small set of watercolour pans. These are optional and your tutor will specify once the course has started.
