Course outline

This course will give you the essential skills and qualities you will need to become a suitable candidate to go onto a career in the airline cabin crew industry. You learn by compiling a portfolio of evidence obtained from writing reports, taking part in workshops and carrying out role plays.

You will learn about the Airline Industry and the benefits and pressures of working in this challenging environment.

Airline industry and the role of airline cabin crew

Effective customer care in airline industry

Effective teamwork and communication

Health and safety of airline passengers

Aviation security

Airport arrival process

Special entry requirements

You will need to be in your second year of a Level 3 course with a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above, preferably to include English Language and Maths or an excellent profile from a Level 2 course.

How you will learn

Through taught lessons, group discussions, research activities, hands on practical work, role plays hard work and a positive attitude. You will participate in a one day visit to an Airline Cabin Crew training centre where you will carry out role plays. You will be required to participate in a mock interview day.

Other complementary subjects

BTEC National Certificate Travel and Tourism and Certificate in Travel (Travel Agency course), are popular choices. We also require all students to complete Basic First Aid and Food Hygiene one day courses. Other courses that also complement this qualification are Spanish, French or any Modern Language.

What you can do after this course

Apply for a job with any Airline or use it to enhance your university or job application, furthermore this course is supported by both Thomas Cook Airlines and BMI (formerly British Midland). All students are guaranteed an interview with both Airlines on successful completion of this course although actual employment is dependent on each airlines own stringent recruitment and selection procedures.
