Who is the programme for? The program is designed to provide you with some basic skills to make life simpler in the kitchen, demonstrate how you can cut time in food preparation and boost your confidence in a culinary environment.

What will I study? The curriculum will focus on preparing and cooking simple ingredients You will explore quick and versatile methods in preparing and cooking food It will provide you with a small compendium of simple recipes that you can use in your home for lunch or dinner You will learn very basic culinary tips in making food a fun and enjoyable past time Delivered on an integrated basis to give greater interest to the learner the program will explore the tools required for specific culinary tasks, the selection of ingredients and the methods required in the preparation, cooking and finishing of those ingredients to form very simple dishes. Students are also likely to develop awareness of health and safety related to the kitchen. You will gain food safety awareness, practical knife skills, stove control and will learn logical and coherent methods of work in producing sound and interesting food. The selection of foods used to produce these simple dishes will vary but all will be available from your local supermarket or local store. Meat, fish, vegetables, sauces, fruit, nuts and pulses are all likely to find their way into the dishes that you will have fun creating.

How is it assessed? There is no assessment, no exams and no worry.

Future prospects? Those students who have enjoyed their six weeks with us and are feeling a little more adventurous may opt for one of our other six week treats from the menu of short full cost courses
