About the course : This is a vocational qualification combining workplace learning and academic study, designed to meet the requirements of employers in developing counselling and psychological knowledge and skills applicable to the workplace. Students will develop professionally as a Counselling practitioner. They will develop their knowledge and skills in the study and application of a variety of Counselling & Psychological models of therapeutic treatment. Students will apply for a suitable work placement during their 1st year where they will provide counselling under clinical supervision. The course requires completion of 100 counselling hours. These hours contribute to the 450 minimum required for British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) accreditation.

Theory - Psychodynamic, Integrative and Intercultural
Therapeutic counselling skills
Professional development
Practitioner workshops and supervision
Personal development: sessions of personal therapy/counselling over the 2 years (15 sessions in year 1 and 25 sessions in year 2).

After this course : Employment in counselling or related work, Individual BACP Counsellor Accreditation and/or further specialist training Progression to Higher Education at degree level.
