This course is designed to improve upon the vocal technique acquired on the course 'Basic technique for solo singing' or equivalent, and to allow you to start experimenting with repertoire and to discover how important this is with regard to acquiring a good vocal technique.

About this course
- sing simple songs rhythmically and in tune from memory, using a more settled technique
- apply knowledge of suitable repertoire to your song choices
- apply good practice to your singing in order to sing successfully
- understand the value of critical evaluation in vocal and performance technique.
A note book and pencil for taking notes, sheet music as required and a course book as advised. You are encouraged to acquire copies of music to be studied during the year.
On this module you will be asked to buy and bring to class, your own copy of:
- Vaccai Metodo Pratico di Canto (Ricordi Edition). You will need to choose the High or Medium voice edition as appropriate. If you are not sure, check with your tutor at the first session.
- The course will then look at a French song and a British folksong
- There will also be opportunities to sing lighter repertoire.
