Course Content
- Safe working practices and procedures to be observed in an electronic assembly workshop
- Tools and equipment required for electronic wiring skills.
- Types of electronic constructions
- Wires, cables and connectors used in electronic assemblies.
- Circuit diagrams and wiring lists and diagrams.
- Solder and the soldering process
- Practise at: -
- Terminating, stripping, tinning, and identification of wire/cable ends, twisted pair formation and cable retention methods.
- Soldering to pin, hook, pierced, bifurcated and cup terminals,
- Fitting of protective sleeves to solder joints
- Basic component identification.
- Testing/checking completed assemblies - e.g. “ringing through”
- Solder joint inspection and testing techniques to achieve required quality standards.
- De-soldering techniques and rectification of faulty solder joints
- Crimp terminals and connections and insulation displacement connections.
- Handling static sensitive assemblies and components
