The Food and Beverage Service Apprenticeship course is designed to give you the relevant training and education required to work within a professional kitchen environment. About this course
Candidates should have a strong interest in the area of hospitality. You will need to be dedicated and committed to your study and be responsible for your own learning. You will be required to attend an interview with the work based learning team and be asked to complete basic skills assessments in English and maths. Students on this course are required to be employed in a suitable work placement in a restaurant environment.

Course Content
Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles Level 2. Core units:
- Maintain a Safe, Hygienic and Secure Working Environment
- Contribute to Effective Team Work
- Give Customers a Positive Impression of Yourself and Your
Organisation - Food Safety in Catering
- Principles of Customer Service in Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism
Optional units include:
- Service of Food at Table
- Principles of Providing a Silver Service
- Principles of Preparing and Serving Wines
- Preparation and Clearing of Service Areas
- Dealing with Payments
As part of the Apprenticeship framework you will also study Employment Rights and Responsibilities, and Functional Skills Level 1 in English and maths.

What can I do next?

Considering an apprenticeship?

You can apply for both an apprenticeship, and a full-time course as your back up,
but note that you will need to do some research to find an employer willing to take you on as an apprentice
if you do not already have one.

ensuring you complete section 4 of the form. In order to start your apprenticeship you must have an employer
ready to complete your apprenticeship with.
