· Course Overview: · Performance Management is a holistic process, bringing together many of the elements which go to make up the successful practice of people management, including, in particular learning, and development. (CIPD) Armstrong and Baron describe Performance Management "as a process which contributes to the effective management of individuals and teams in order to achieve high levels of organisational performance. As such, it establishes shared understanding about what is to be achieved and an approach to leading and developing people which will ensure that it is achieved." Importantly, it is "a strategy which relates to every activity of the organisation set in the context of its human resource policies, culture, style and communications systems." The course comprises the following modules: Product and Service Delivery, Finance and Resource Environment, Leadership, Planning and Target Setting, Manageing People and Conflict, Appraisals and Feedback, Developing Teams, Coaching and Mentoring. Complimenting these modules ar Personal development Planning and Work-Related Learning (or a Personal Project). The programme is designed to complement existing professional in-house development and aims to create highly performing managers who work at their optimum efficiency levels and who understand how to create and motivate competent and proficient teams. The objectives of the programme include the development of transferable skills and knowledge which will enable learners to contribute and develop their full potential. They will acquire specialist knowledge within a framework that is integrated with work based study. The structure enables the learner to also engage with the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) professional qualification.
