Foundation Performing Arts
BTEC Introductory Diploma

Who is the course for?
This course is for people who wish to work towards a level one vocational qualification in performing arts.

What is the course about?
You will be given the opportunity to investigate a wide range of performance skills and techniques associated with Performing Arts. These include: acting, movement, rehearsing and music technology. You will be expected to take part in some public performances.

Will I need anything else?
You will be required to purchase play scripts, pay for theatre tickets of any shows you wish to see and any comfortable clothing for rehearsals.

How long & often do I attend?
This course is offered as a one year substantial programme and requires attendance of several lectures, practical sessions and workshops per week; additional time will also need to be spent by the students in carrying out project work and to complete research. You will be required to attend for a minimum of 80%. Students will be required to be 'flexible' around performance dates and times.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is continuous. You will be marked on both practical and written project work, which will provide the evidence on which your grades will be based. There is no formal exam at the end of the course.

What opportunities will this lead to?
On completion of these course you will be able to progress onto a level 2 vocational course within the school of Performing Arts.
