Brickwork Diploma Level 1

PROGRAMME CONTENT/STRUCTURE
This course is designed to prepare students for work in the occupation of Brickwork. It has been specifically developed for delivery in college using simulated conditions. Assessment is based on students demonstrating their knowledge and practical competence per unit, including a Knowledge GOLA test and practical phase test. It can therefore act as a very useful vehicle to enable those currently not employed in the industry to gain relevant knowledge and experience. The course covers all aspects of Bricklaying including:
Health and Safety;
Working with Others;
Materials, Storage and Handling;
Basic Working Platforms;
Trade Calculations;
Cavity Work;
Arches;
Blockwork;
Chimney Stacks;
Setting Out;
Piers;
Drawings.
PROGRESSION/CAREERS OPPORTUNITIES
On successful completion, students can progress onto the Advanced Construction Award in Brickwork or the NVQ Level 3.
ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE Practical Phase Tests, Oral & Written tests and assignments. External online multiple choice exam.
