Course content:
This course will provide students with skills and knowledge to progress towards a career in childcare. The course consists of theory and a work experience placement.
Includes units in basic child care, play and practical activities, growth and development, food and nutrition, health & safety. In addition students will study functional skills in communication, number and IT.

The course will consist of theory and work experience placement.

Course resources:
Childcare Textbook. All students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This included free internet access.

Assessment:
Students are required to complete a number of assignments which contain both practical and theoretical activities with the focus being on real work situations. Multiple choice external test. Key skills are also assessed through external tests.

Progression to Certificate in Childcare and Education, or NVQ level 2

Fees Info
The fee where stated is an 'INCLUSIVE FEE' for UK/EU students. This fee includes the tuition fee, examination fee and exam board registration fee. You may have to pay extra for materials for the course. If you are under 19 years or you are in receipt of an income related benefit the course and exam fee is FREE. Students aged 60+ years pay 70% of this fee. Students aged 19+ will also have to pay a College Registration Fee of £30 (or £20 if you receive benefit) once per academic year.Materials costs:
CRB check £38.00, £20 for the course text book. You will be required to provide folders and writing paper.
