Fee Information: The College charges a range of fees, primarily Home and Overseas. Under 19s assessed as Home, do not pay the course fees, we only charge a 20 enrolment fee which is refunded if you complete the course. Home students over 19 undertaking their First Full Level 2 (equivalent to 5 GCSE A-C) or their First Full Level 3 (equivalent to BTEC National or 2 ALevels) will be charged 20 enrolment fee plus any examination fees. For Home students over 19 receiving certain state benefits, the 20 enrolment is charged and not refundable. In all other instances, you will be charged the Home-EU or Overseas Fee.

About the course:
If you are interested in studying for a Carpentry and Joinery qualification, then this course provides a wide range of practical activities and related knowledge.
Topics include: Geometry and Drawing, Wood Machining, Power and Hand Tools, Equipment Maintenance, Joinery Items, Preparing Costing Estimates and The Construction Industry.
Students who are sponsored by an employer can gain an NVQ if they are able to give sufficient proof of their skills

Assessment:

Your course will generally be assessed by observations of your practical work conducted by a qualified Assessor, who may also be your Course Tutor.
The job knowledge will be assessed by short question papers which take place throughout your programme of study. There may also be an external general paper which is usually multiple choice.
Your tutor will prepare and support you for all your assessments and the type of assessment you undertake may vary slightly depending on your programme

After the course:
You can progress onto the ICA (Intermediate Construction Award) in Site Carpentry or Bench Joinery, subject to demand.
Students who are sponsored by an employer may be able to gain an NVQ 2 if they provide the required evidence from site, endorsed by an employer recognised by the College.
