Introduction
This course is aimed at school leavers and mature candidates. It is a Level 3 qualification which develops and extends knowledge and understanding of working with children 0-7yrs.

Description
The course will enable you to develop the knowledge and skills required to work effectively within early years care and education. Students can expect to study modules such as: * Observation and assessment * Working with young children * Physical care and education of children * Promotion of anti-bias and anti-discrimination practices * Child development * Child protection Key skills such as communication, application of number and IT will be integrated within all subject areas.

Duration
Two years

Method of Study
You will study through a series of lectures and seminars, as well as through work experience. Alongside a variety of classroom and lecture-based teaching, work experience will form an integral part of the course. You will be required to attend two days a week in a variety of childcare settings throughout the year. All placements will be organised through the College.

Progression
If you successfully complete the course it will enable you to seek employment as a nursery practitioner in a nursery, school or hospital, as a nanny for a family in the UK or abroad, in nursing, or performing social and community work. This qualification also enables you to move on to higher education.
