Course content:
This course is for students who wish to study a more practical childcare course and who wish to work as nursery or classroom assistants in schools and day nurseries.
The course is made up of five mandatory units. These include: Contributed to Positive Relationships; Help to keep Children Safe; Support Children's Development; Use Support to Develop own Needs and Support Children's Play and Learning. Students will also study three Key Skills: Communication, Numeracy & Information Technology.

Course Structure:
The course is delivered part time over one year. Students will attend college for the theory and will be assessed in the work place by a college NVQ Assessor.

Course resources:
All students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This included free internet access.

Portfolio building and assessment in the workplace

Fees Info
The fee where stated is an 'INCLUSIVE FEE' for UK/EU students. This fee includes the tuition fee, examination fee and exam board registration fee. You may have to pay extra for materials for the course. If you are under 19 years or you are in receipt of an income related benefit the course and exam fee is FREE. Students aged 60+ years pay 70% of this fee. Students aged 19+ will also have to pay a College Registration Fee of £30 (or £20 if you receive benefit) once per academic year.Materials costs:
Approximately £20 for appropriate childcare textbooks. In addition students will need to provide lever arch folders and writing paper.
