This course is suitable for students of all ages. A good general standard of education, 3 GCSEs at grade A-D or A good standard of Literacy and Numeracy or Entry 3 in English. Completion of a Level 1 Hairdressing Course.

Hairdressing: Barbering City & Guilds NVQ 2

Level: Level 2

Course content:
The NVQ Level 2 courses in Barbering are for those individuals who want to be a part of this highly energetic exciting industry
Upon receipt of an application, an interview will be arranged, followed by a taster session which will include an aptitude/ dexterity test. This will enable us to determine the suitability of the course you have applied for. This course will provide you with the basic operational skills for the barbering industry. This course covers a range of barbering specialist subject areas, including:
- G20- Make sure your won actions reduce risks to health and safety
- G3- Contribute to the development of effective working relationships
- GH1- Shampoo and condition hair
- Prepare for hair services and maintain work areas.

Plus, candidates must also pick two of the three optional units:
G2- Assist with salon reception duties
- GH2- Blow dry hair
- GH4- Assist with hair colouring services It is supportive for the student to be working in a salon environment at least two days per week.

Course Structure:
This course will provide students with essential knowledge, techniques, skills and understanding of how to perform Barbering treatments and industry related tasks.
Subject delivery · Input of essential knowledge- Group and Individual Tutorial and Portfolio building, Skills related workshops, You will be required to attending external exhibitions, enter relevant in-house shows, external hairdressing competitions and extra curriculum enrichment activities.
You will be required to attend one evening a week
You must have a current 1-2 day per week placement in a salon.

Course resources:
Excellent salon training environment; the latest products in the market are used at the college. All students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This included free internet access.

Assessment:
Continuous assessments by observation on paying clients for practical skills and formal and informal on-line tests, there may be some written assignment and test. Portfolio of evidence. ESOL and additional support sessions is provided where required

Fees Info
The fee where stated is an 'INCLUSIVE FEE' for UK/EU students. This fee includes the tuition fee, examination fee and exam board registration fee. You may have to pay extra for materials for the course. If you are under 19 years or you are in receipt of an income related benefit the course and exam fee is FREE. Students aged 60+ years pay 70% of this fee. Students aged 19+ will also have to pay a College Registration Fee of £30 (or £20 if you receive benefit) once per academic year.Materials costs:
£225 Hairdressing Kit, including College T-shirts; City & Guild Log-book, www- site access; Additional fee will be required for external trips
