Course content:
This course provides candidates with introductory vocational skills and knowledge required to become a trainee within the hairdressing industry.
This course gives an introduction into the hairdressing industry. This course contains four units, which are mandatory, including:
- G20- Make sure your won actions reduce risks to health and safety
- G3- Contribute to the development of effective working relationships
- GH1- Shampoo and condition hair
- GH3- Prepare for hair services and maintain work areas

Plus, two of the following optional units:
- G2- Assist with salon reception duties
- GH2- Blow dry hair
- GH4- Assist with hair colouring services

Course Structure:
Input, tutorial, 1-1 action planning/portfolio building, skills related training workshops, work alongside NVQ level 2 or level 3's in a commercial salon. Plus mandatory work-experience in hairdressing industry (you maybe required to do 1 evening per week).

Course resources:
Your practical training will take place in a fully equipped modern salon on the ground floor. During your time at College you will be able to attend exhibitions and enter external competitions.

Assessment:
Continuous assessment by observation of practical skills when you work on clients, plus some written tests and assignments.

The fee where stated is an 'INCLUSIVE FEE' for UK/EU students. This fee includes the tuition fee, examination fee and exam board registration fee. You may have to pay extra for materials for the course. If you are under 19 years or you are in receipt of an income related benefit the course and exam fee is FREE. Students aged 60+ years pay 70% of this fee. Students aged 19+ will also have to pay a College Registration Fee of £30 (or £20 if you receive benefit) once per academic year.Materials costs:
Hairdressing kit - £POA, college t-shirt and C&G logbook (approx £20.00), external trips (approx £40.00)
