About this course
Learners will normally require one of the following:
* 4 GCSEs grade C+ and a minimum of English at grade C and Maths at grade D
* Intermediate GNVQ at Merit and 2 key skills at level 2
*Equivalent qualifications
Learners over 20 years old without formal academic qualifications will be given every consideration. There is an informal interview for the course.

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
This two year course prepares you to move on to University or further training in a variety of professions:
TV and Radio Production
Music Industry
Journalism and Photojournalism
Advertising
Marketing
Media Research
Multi Media
You will be working in areas such as Photography, Video and Radio Production and Desk Top Publishing, you will gain experience of working with other people, problem solving and meeting deadlines. You will also develop skills in areas such as planning, researching and evaluating information, report writing and presenting ideas. You will learn to use information technology to edit and manipulate images and sound.
You also have the opportunity to gain work experience placements in local and national companies and to complete assignments for real clients. Every year course members work on the colleges own FM and internet radio station - Wiggle FM, and take part in a study residential in London, going behind the scenes of the BBC TV centre and other media companies.
WHAT DO I NEED?
WHAT ARE MY COMMITMENTS?
You will need to attend classes for approximately 15 - 18 hours per week. In addition, you are advised to spend 10 - 15 hours per week on assignments at home or in college.
WHAT WILL I ACHIEVE?
You may obtain a National Certificate in Media (1 A level), a National Diploma in Media (2 A levels) or a National Extended Diploma in Media (3 A levels) at the end of year 2.

All students will be expected to work towards one additional Key Skill qualification at level 3 in either Communication or Information Technology.

Course fees are payable on enrolment. Costs shown in brackets are for those on income-based benefits. Refunds are not normally available.
