Is the course for me?
This course provides practical skills for adults and young people who have learning difficulties. You will learn to develop life skills such as cooking, shopping or cleaning. You will learn to visit community facilities such as leisure centres, libraries, cafes, museums, post offices or health centres.
What will I learn?
You will learn to become more independent by going food shopping, cooking your own meals and using public transport. Your lessons will cover cooking, cleaning, using community facilities such as health centres, libraries or leisure centres. You will learn how to do things you like in your spare time in for example, sport activities, making things, visit places or developing a hobby. It is intended that this course will help you to develop your confidence, socila skills and enhanced your communication and numeracy skills.
How will I be assessed?
You will create a protfolio of evidence of your work to demonstrate your competence and skills. This will be graded by the assessor. Your tutor or lecturer will regulary review your progress and let you know how are you doing throughout the course. Individual tutorials take place to discuss any issues outstanding.
What can I do after the course?
You might be able to progress to Personal Prpgression level 2, or progress to Personal Progression work skills level 3. At the end of the academic year, a course review will take place to discuss progression routes for you with your tutor.
