About this course
This course is for school leavers aged 16-18 years. You will need either:
4 GCSEs at least 2 graded D or above in relevant subjects (e.g. Citizenship, PE, Science, English and Maths)
A Merit grade or above BTEC Introductory Diploma (or a similar full level 1 qualification) in a related area.
Relevant experience and/or training in the industry (e.g. cadets, voluntary work) will be considered...

Course content:
This one year course is designed for students who wish to work in the public and uniformed careers such as the ambulance, fire, army and police services. The course will develop the skills and knowledge that employers want in the uniformed police services sectors. There is a strong emphasis on your own health, lifestyle and fitness, with a particular focus on teamwork, leadership skills and communication.
This one year course is designed for students who wish to work in the public and uniformed careers such as the ambulance, fire, army and police services. The course provides opportunities for students to develop basic skills, knowledge and understanding through experiencing the range and types of activity that those serving the public are expected to carry out. There is a strong emphasis on your own health, lifestyle and fitness and you will develop your physical sport and recreation skills. The course consists of six units, which include Public Service Skills, Uniformed Public Services Fitness, Uniformed Public Service Employment, Sport and Recreation, Citizenship, the Individual and Society, Adventurous Activities and Team Work for the Public Services. As part of the course you will also be participating in outdoor activities such as map reading, high ropes and competitions organised by the services. You course will also include key/functional skills in communication and application of number at the appropriate level.
Course Structure:
The course is a combination of practical activity and theory sessions timetabled across 3 days.

All students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This included free internet access.
Assessment:
continuous assessment through assignments and practical observations. All assignments will be internally assessed.

The fee where stated is an 'INCLUSIVE FEE' for UK/EU students. This fee includes the tuition fee, examination fee and exam board registration fee. You may have to pay extra for materials for the course. If you are under 19 years or you are in receipt of an income related benefit the course and exam fee is FREE. Students aged 60+ years pay 70% of this fee. Students aged 19+ will also have to pay a College Registration Fee of £30 (or £20 if you receive benefit) once per academic year.Materials costs:
Approximately £30 for text books/materials. Appropriate sports clothing is essential for all practical work.
