About this course
You will need 4 GCSEs at grade D or above including Maths and English, or successful completion of a Level 1 course in a related subject graded at merit level or above with key skills. Applicants will be required to have an interview with a member of the admissions team. You will also be required to possess a valid in-date passport to attend trips.

Is the course for me?
If you are interested in working in the travel and tourism industry then this course could be for you.
This course will provide you with a nationally recognised qualification, that is designed to give you with an introduction and over view of the travel industry. It will also enable you to progress to a level 3 course or direct employment in the industry.
What will I learn?
You will learn about different aspects of the travel and tourism industry. You will also be given the opportunity to take part in numerous trips within the travel department. In recent years we have taken groups to Disneyland Paris, Nice, and Barcelona. Trips prices will vary depending on the destiantion being visited.
There are also a number of day trips to theme parks, hotels, adventure activities and European markets.

- Exploring marketing in Travel and Tourism
- Planning visits for Travel and Tourism.,
- In order to assist you with the successful completion of your course you will be required to attend Key skills classes, you are required to pass this element and as well as weekly tutorial sessions with your Learning Coach. All students will be required to purchase a uniform, this must be worn when in college unless otherwise directed. Details of the uniform will be provided at the start of the course.The uniform supplier is Next.

Students will benefit from the purchase of an atlas to aid the completion of essential units on this course, the approximate cost is £23.99 (correct at the time of printing), other prices may vary. Students can purchase other travel and tourism books to aid with the completiton of assignment tasks.
How will I be assessed?
- You will be assessed via:
- Completion of all set assignments (Six in total)
- Attendance
- Practical work
- Completion of Key Skills is also required
What can I do after the course?
You can progress onto higher vocational qualifications, such as the BTEC (Level 3) National in Travel and Tourism or the BTEC (Level 3) National in Aviation Operations.
To progress onto either course you must acheive at least a merit or above at this level (level 2).
You can also progress into a wide variety of job roles within the industry.
