General Pre-Vocational Access Programme Entry Level

Is this course for me?
This course suits school-leavers aged 19 who want to develop
independent living skills. Students on this course may have left
special schools for people with severe learning difficulties,
and/or have previously attended a Link programme.
What will I study?
This course focuses on independent living skills. You will be
encouraged and supported to make the transition from school to
college, by becoming familiar with, and working towards, an
independent use of all College facilities.

• Literacy
• Numeracy
• Residential
• Travel training

These are optional subjects:

• Art
• Dance
• Gardening
• Multiskills
• Music

What can I do next?
This can lead to progession into other courses at the College
and tutors are happy to help with career progression.
What are the entry requirements?
You will need to be a school-leaver aged 19+ who wants to
develop independent living skills. You may have attended a special
school for people with severe learning difficulties and/or have
previously attended a Link programme.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is by a tutor who gives regular feedback on progress.
Additional support, help and guidance are also available from the
college Guidance Team.
What will it cost?
If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances,
you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out
when you apply.
