BTEC First Certificate
Introduction
The BTEC First Diploma is a practical and work-related course.
During the course you will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on real life situations, activities and demands to help gain a clear understanding of the related areas/issues.
The course will be based on three days within the college and an optional placement one day a week.
There will also be an opportunity to improve your Literacy, Numeracy and Information Communication Technology skills.

You will normally need to have at least ONE of the following
- A BTEC Foundation Certificate in a related subject
- A good standard of Literacy and Numeracy Entry level 2/3 or Level 1/2
- One or more GCSE grades D -G or above
- Related work experience
- Other level 1 or 2 qualifications
For the First Diploma, you will study for 360 hours.
The BTEC First Diploma is a one year course
Assessment
Each unit will be individually assessed through assignment work and graded to a pass, merit or distinction.
The overall course is graded at a pass, merit or distinction.
