This course is designed to develop your academic and practical skills and knowledge to be successful in this ever changing and vibrant
environment.

The topics you will study include:

· The travel and tourism industry
· Visitor attractions
· Conferencing and events
· Passenger transport
· Customer service.

The course will also develop your analytical, creative, problem-solving
and interpersonal skills which are highly valued by employers.

During the course you will have the opportunity to achieve additional
qualifications in English, Maths and ICT as well as specialist qualifications linked to a specific area of interest. You will also have the opportunity to complete a work placement.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed continuously during the course through a range of assignments, work-related research, investigations and examinations. You will be involved in project work linked to local businesses which will develop your skills and provide you with an
insight into how travel and tourism businesses operate.

On successful completion you may:

Progress to the Advanced Diploma in Travel and Tourism or the BTEC National Diploma in Travel and Tourism.

Or

Start an Apprenticeship or Advanced Apprenticeship in Leisure Attractions, Business Administration or Customer Service. As well as learning, you will develop the skills needed for
employment in your chosen sector and earn a salary - see page 26 for further details.

This course is equivalent to 7 GCSEs at grades A*-C.
