Intermediate Apprenticeship - Hospitality: Food Production and Cooking

This Apprenticeship will give you an opportunity to learn how to prepare, cook and present a range of food items to a basic standard. This will include meat, fish, poultry, vegetables, cakes and desserts. This programme also includes some aspects of front of house duties.

This course is ideal if you’re committed to providing a good service and obtaining first-rate knowledge of food production.

Some of the topics covered on the programme are:

• Maintaining food safety when storing, preparing and cooking food
• Working effectively as part of a hospitality team
• Providing a counter or takeaway service
• Producing basic meat, poultry and vegetable dishes
• Hygiene and food safety
• Team work.

The learning experience will be individual and fun, with on the job training with your supervisor and assessor or trainer. You will also be able to make use of facilities both at your workplace and in the College, including our excellent library and learning resource centre.

Good English and maths skills are essential for success in studying and for future employment prospects and so Croydon College ensures that these skills are developed in all learning opportunities.

It’s also important to have good English and maths qualifications and so all students will study English and maths and work towards an appropriate level and type of qualification including GCSE.
