An Entry Certificate in Skills for Working Life, or Life Skills, or other Entry Level qualifications, or an appropriate standard of literacy and numeracy, or 4 GCSEs at grades E/F or above.

Aim A 1 year practical â€OEhands on†course taught in the context of real jobs and careers in a chosen area. You will learn about parts that make up a computer and develop skills in IT.
Content In a typical day you will:
· Create business documents, such as letters, memos etc
· Learn about the key components of a PC
· Use the main features of Windows.
Assessment is continuous throughout the course and assignments are marked by your tutors. You are required to take exams in technology as well as functional skills in English, Maths and IT at level 1.
Progression/career opportunities
Successful completion of this course at merit level enables you to go onto the First Diploma for IT practitioners.
Screening
Students will also be screened (in the College) and must achieve literacy and numeracy at the level appropriate to the course.
