Course Overview:
This course is for jazz singers who wish to develop their understanding of jazz harmony in a supportive, practical and creative environment. Your appreciation of and language for the many colours and textures within jazz will develop as you explore and create exercises for warm-ups and improvisation and sing in harmony within jazz vocal arrangements.

Course programme
This is not a 'performance class' and topics you will explore include:
Familiar pieces from within the course repertoire and developing a new way of appreciating the melody and chord progression.
Review and explore the fundamentals of jazz harmony to more fully understand the tunes you sing and play.
Develop your own creative exercises for warm-ups and improvisation.
Work with rhythm to create phrases for warm-ups and improvisation.
Develop your understanding and appreciation of scat and vocalise.
Develop your understanding of charts and how to create a basic fool-proof chart in any key.
Singing in harmony within the group and exploring jazz vocal arrangements in 4 part harmony.
