The Level 3 Diploma is a 2 year course and is equivalent to 3 A Levels.

About this course

5 GCSE's grade A-C, or the successful completion of the Level 2 Diploma in Society, Health and Development. Applicants will be asked to complete an initial assessment and undertake an interview where they will need to demonstrate their suitability to work within the Health and Social Care sector.

Applicants will be asked to complete an initial assessment and undertake an interview where they will need to demonstrate their suitability to work within the Health and Social Care sector.
Course Content
You will be learning and developing some of the skills and knowledge that you would need for a career in the health, social care, community justice and children and young people sectors.
The six modules include:·The Sectors in Context
In this unit you will be able to explore the similarities and differences in the purpose, structure and practical workings that enable the delivery of support and services across the children and young people's social care, community justice and health sectors and settings.·The Principles and Values in Practice
In thus unit you will have the opportunity to examine how principles and values can shape and inform key legislation, regulation and codes of practice, as well as underpin policy and practice in the children and young people's, social care, community justice and health sectors and settings.·Partnership Working
This unit will allow you to develop an understanding of partnership working and how it involves individuals, colleagues, teams and organisations in improving service provision.·Communication and Information Sharing
This unit will provide opportunities for you to investigate sharing and record keeping is vital in the children and young people's, social care, community justice and health sectors and settings.·Personal and Professional Development in the Work Environment
This unit will be based on your own experience in one or more work place setting, and will help prepare you for employment in one or more of the sectors, and for higher education. You will have the opportunity to reflect on how to improve your own practice, identify good practice and plan professional development to contribute effectively to a work setting.·Safeguarding and Protecting Individuals and Society
In this unit you will develop an understanding of the importance of promoting and protecting the health, safety and security of individuals and society. You will also learn about the assessment of risks in the workplace and in communities.
How will I be assessed?
Within the principle learning four units are internally assessed through assignments.
Two units are externally assessed through written examinations.
Fuctional Skills:These will enable you to further develop your skills and knowledge in literacy, numeracy and ICT. Assessment for the functional skills are through examination.
Additional Learning:These are additional level three qualifications which you can include in your programme of study such as 'A' Level of your choice.
You will complete a minimum of two weeks work experience with one of the four sectors related to this diploma.
What can I do next?
The Diploma is recognised by Universities and could help you enter a career in Nursing, Social Work, Youth Offending and Probation work, Primary School Teaching and other related careers.
