Aim:
The Foods Standard Agency emphasises the responsibility of all staff involved with food preparation to ensure that high standards are maintained throughout the storage, preparation and cooking stages of food handling.
The Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering addresses these concerns, and is designed for those already working in the catering industry, whether in food preparation or other food handling roles. Throughout the course, learners will explore the legislation concerning the
safe handling of food, as well as the good practice that should be observed to ensure that
high standards are adhered to and customers are not endangered. The award is part of the
Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).

While there are no prerequisites for the course, it is recommended that learners hold a
minimum of level 1 literacy and numeracy, or equivalent qualification.
