Level 3 Certificate In Counselling Skills

This course is externally validated by A.B.C. who are a national counsellor training awarding body. The aim of the course is to offer workers in the public, private and voluntary sector the opportunity to develop a wide range of counselling skills. It also provides a progressive intermediate training for those who wish to train to become professional counsellors. The course is offered day or evening 10.00 to 2.00 or 5.00 to 9.00.

Because Counsellor Training is demanding, it is essential that students can demonstrate an appropriate measure of psychological and psychosocial stability in this respect applicants must make tutors aware of any current treatment programme that could conflict with student status on a counselling course.

Assessment
Students must achieve 80% attendance throughout the course
Demonstrate competency and confidence in the use of core skills
Demonstrate qualities essential to counselling practice
Successfully complete a range of written assignments that consider theory, practice and personal development
Produce a practical tape recording that reflects the effective use of core skills
Produce a personal journal that offers critical self-examination

Enrolment Method
Applications to course tutors following progression from level two, via interview and seminar. Course fees are reviewed annually and applicants offered current fee on application. Fee remission will be offered to individuals receiving certain benefits.
