What qualifications do I need to study on the course?
Five grade C's or above at GCSE including grade C's in both Science and Maths GCSEs.
What will I study?
Areas include the following Core Units:
· Scientific Principles
· Laboratory Organisation
· Workplace Practices
· Role of Science Technician
· Forensic evidence collection and analysis
Plus Specialist units:
· Introduction to Criminology and Criminal Psychology
· Mathematics and Statistics for Science Technicians
· Traffic accident investigation
· Forensic Fire investigation
Method of assessment
The course involves both theoretical work and laboratory practice with as much reference to current and recent cases as possible. As the course is continually assessed throughout the two years by coursework, high levels of motivation need to be maintained throughout.
What will I be able to progress to?
You will be able to progress to employment within the sciences or a degree or diploma course at university in science or forensic science subjects.
**In addition to the National Certificate (equivalent to two A Levels) you will need to choose to study up to 2 AS subjects alongside this course. Recommended subjects include Psychology, Law, Biology or Chemistry.
