Media Studies
You will learn the processes and specialized knowledge that are common to all creative industries.

What will I study?
The course is split into six modules over two years as follows:
AS-Level
· Print Production: You will learn how to plan and construct media products using appropriate technical and creative skills and learn how to evaluate your own work. You will engage with contemporary media technologies. You will learn the techniques that enable you to understand how a media producer communicates the desired meaning to the consumer of a film, advert, news article, soap opera or magazine. You will gain an understanding of media institutions, production processes, technologies and related issues concerning audience consumption and reception in one of the following areas: film, music, newspapers, radio, magazines or video games.
A2-Level
· You will study video and print. The production is split into three main areas: planning, construction and critical production report. You will cover contemporary media issues and choose one topic from the following: contemporary media regulation; global media; media and collective identity; media in the online age; postmodern media; and "We Media" and democracy

How will the course be assessed?
You will be assessed by a mixture of coursework and examinations that are internally and externally verified.

What could I do next?
You can progress on to higher education opportunities in media and film studies, media production, journalism, broadcast journalism, media performance, advertising and marketing.
